Student Ambassador Program

Each summer a student journeys "across the pond” to spend time in their Sister city. SALUDA hosted Benedetta in 2017 and Nora & Marta in 2024. Carunchio hosted Claire in 2023 and Ariana & Zetta in 2025. Moving forward Saluda will host in even years and Carunchio will host in odd years.

In Saluda, students are housed with families in the town and go on excursions to explore the beautiful mountain environment.  Travelers to Carunchio spend a week in the Palazzo Tour D’Eau with its cooking school and Abruzzo touring and an additional week the truffle hunter’s family and/or the Mayor's family

Opportunities for Students

Saluda Sister City in conjunction with Sister City International is beneficial for students by providing them with unique opportunities to experience another culture through educational exchanges, often including travel to their sister city, which can foster cross-cultural understanding, develop leadership skills, and potentially spark an interest in international affairs, all while acting as a first exposure to global engagement. This is what we have going on now:

YOUNG ARTISTS AND AUTHORS SHOWCASE

YAAS invites youth aged 12–18 to explore the theme “Friendship: The Heartbeat of Global Peace” through art, writing, music, and photography. Celebrate the power of friendship in fostering peace and collaboration across borders while competing for cash prizes of up to $1,000.
